The committee was established in 2012 as the latest addition to the MSJ. The formation of the committee was motivated by the recognition of the vital importance of achieving gender equality and promoting the careers of young scientists who will be responsible for the future of meteorology and meteorological services.
The main purpose of the committee is to mentor and take actions to improve the research environment for young scientists and/or undergraduate/graduate students and remove any gender inequalities in employment. The committee has a higher proportion of young and/or female members than other committees of the MSJ, and it enables us to discuss and take actions on standing issues freely.
