The Years of the Maritime Continent or YMC is a multi-national and a multi-year effort, which aims at improving our understanding and prediction skill of the weather-climate systems over the
Maritime Continent (MC) as well as its global impact. Its field campaign phase has been started since July 2017 and is scheduled to continue beyond 2020. During this campaign period, several
intensive observations have been/will be conducted and those datasets are available for not only actual participants but also general scientific community. Its first dataset has been released from
February 2019 from YMC web site at p://www.jamstec.go.jp/ymc. By considering this
opportunity, this special edition solicits to submit a paper that can be produced using those YMC datasets as well as numerical and theoretical studies related to this field campaign.
